LIGHTS OUT FOR VIVID SYDNEY 2024

Vivid Sydney, one of the world’s most iconic light festivals, is set to return in 2024, but with a twist. The event, which typically illuminates the city’s landmarks and streets, will be going dark for the first time in its 14-year history.

Vivid Sydney, one of the world’s most iconic light festivals, is set to return in 2024, but with a twist. The event, which typically illuminates the city’s landmarks and streets, will be going dark for the first time in its 14-year history.

According to Destination NSW, the event’s organizers, the decision to turn off the lights is a deliberate choice to focus on the festival’s artistic and cultural aspects, rather than its visual spectacle.

“We’re excited to take Vivid Sydney in a new direction,” said a spokesperson for Destination NSW. “By focusing on the artistic and cultural aspects of the festival, we’re able to showcase the incredible talent of our local and international artists in a way that’s more meaningful and impactful.”

The festival, which typically attracts over 2 million visitors each year, will feature a range of interactive installations, performances, and exhibitions that celebrate the intersection of art, technology, and culture.

“We’re looking forward to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with light and art,” said another spokesperson. “Our goal is to create an immersive experience that engages and inspires our audience.”

The event will take place from May 24 to June 17, 2024, and will feature a range of activities and events, including live music performances, talks, and workshops.

“Vivid Sydney is a celebration of creativity and innovation, and we’re excited to share it with the world,” said a third spokesperson.
